Heavy snow is in the forecast this winter and snow removal contractors, public works departments, homeowners, farmers and ranchers are busy getting their snowplows ready for action.
Plows can wreak havoc on asphalt, concrete and cobblestone, marring it with ugly scratches that can ruin the look and longevity of expensive pavement.
Fortunately, Pride Solutions has an inexpensive fix for this problem – the May Wes UHMW Poly Cutting Edge for snowplows, buckets and snow pushers.
Plastic snowplow cutting edges provide a buffer between the metal plow blade and the pavement, preventing scuffing and reducing shock to equipment in uneven concrete conditions.
UHMW, or Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene, is the perfect material for a snowplow cutting edge. Its abrasion resistance makes it suitable for heavy duty commercial and public works use, and its super slick properties reduce buildup of snow, ice and debris on the plow blade.
We manufacture our custom UHMW snowplow cutting edges in our plastic fabrication shop in Hutchinson, Minnesota and sell them through our May Wes Manufacturing division. We also sell several standard UHMW plastic cutting edges.
Our custom UHMW poly cutting edges are available in 8”, 6” and 4” widths and ¾”, 1” and 1 1/2” thicknesses. We custom cut them to the customer’s desired length on a CNC router. If the customer desires, we drill counterbored holes to their specification, making installation a breeze. We also provide optional hardware kits to mount the cutting edge to the snowplow, saving customers a trip to the hardware store.
Our poly cutting edges are suitable for ATV and truck mounted plow blades, snow pushers, pay loaders, skid loaders and other bucket-mounted equipment. They are intended for use on paved surfaces and are not designed for continual use on rough surfaces.
